REVIEW:
I recently finished the first book in this Duology. I really loved the first book and was excited to see where the second book would take me. I knew that I was going to have to wait to read it because I was going to borrow it from my sister who lives some distance away from me in Southern Michigan. So imagine my surprise when I opened my Valentine’s Day gift from my significant other and found nestled amongst the gifts was the second book in the series!!! I was so excited to read it but I had to finish the other book he picked out for me to read. You better believe that I doubled down on my reading to finish that book in a timely manner.
Alexis (Hercules) is still married to two men. She resents them and what they stand for however is being slowly drawn into them and she can’t control it. She is still being prepped for a large battle in the dolomite colosseum that she cannot get away from. Zeus has spoken. In order to train her, she has to go out on missions and bring home Titans that are terrorizing the rest of the population. She is sent with her mentors Patro and Achillies to find them. Things go south and they abandon her to fight the Titans. Her husband’s come to her rescue and manage to save her before things really hit the fan. It is at that point that she is starting to fall for them and not just in a physical way that she insisted at first was all it was. Alexis is slowly letting them into her life and her backstory of what made her, her. They are seeing her in a different light that they are realizing makes her even more desirable. Holy COW!!! This book was utterly amazing. I loved every single second of it. I wanted the story to go on and on. I am really hoping that the author writes another book to the series. I know that it is just a duology but that isn’t the point, this needs another book. Maybe even a book from another perspective.
This book does have more spice than the first book in the series which was nice quite frankly. It mixed up the blood and powers moments into something sweeter and nicer. I really liked how Alexis was able to come into her powers and realize that she is both a healer and lets just say killer. She has poisonous blood but at the same time she is able to heal those around her with her touch. Which can I just point out that if they had killed the snake off I would have been livid. I loved Nyx, she adds some comic relief to the storyline. Yes, there are other funny moments but she just did it for me. I was so happy to see Fluffy Jr evolve into whatever he ended up being a horse plus doggo or something of that nature. That really kept me on the edge of my seat because I really didn’t know what was going to happen to them. I think this book does a good job of giving us a spin on Greek gods that we really don’t think about. Hercules being a female and Medusa actually maybe not being that evil. I don’t think I remember Achilles actually being able to breathe fire in any of my classes in high school. It gives them a fresh spin on what we already know about them. Definitely read this series, you will not be disappointed.
